Dear Mrs Melville,

My name is Aarav and I’m from Elm Park School.  I am writing to you to say thank you for the amazing trip you arranged for us.

My favourite part of the trip was skipping rocks at the beach and it really surprised me to see penguins.  I also enjoyed the ferry ride and I also learnt a lot about nature.

The trip taught me about trees, plants, habitats, birds, and animals all native to New Zealand.  I will definitely visit again with my family.

I was learning to write a six sentence story.  I found this easy because it was short an I could imagine it. Next time I want to write a six page story.

My Reflection:

I was learning my 7 timetables.

I found it easy because I learnt all of my timetables from 0-12 at home.

My next step is to learn timetables with way bigger numbers

I was learning to make predictions.

I found it easy becasue I could find clues.

My next step is to make predictions with harder books.

My Reflection

I was learning to make a self portrait.  I found it easy because I like and do a lot of art at home.  My next step is to make it realistic.

Summerising Information

Reflection:

I was learning to summarise information.

I found it easy because we did lots of research and I learnt alot about him in the past years.

My next step is to leran about more famous people in NZ not just Sir Edmund Hillary.

Facts About Albatrosses

Reflection:

I was learning to make inferences.

I found it tricky because it was slightly hard to write everything in my own words.

My next step is to write and present it.

Converting Mixed to Improper Fractions and Improper to Mixed Fractions

Reflection:

I was learning to convert mixed to improper fractions and improper to mixed fractions.

I found it easy ecause I knew to convert a mixed to an improper fraction I need to times the whole by the denominator and add it with the numenator and to convert the improper to a mixed fraction you need to divide the nuerator by the denominator and put the number that you get next to the fractions the whole(s) and put the remander as the numerator.

My next step is to convert bigger numbers and get harder problems.

New Zealand Timeline.

Reflection:

I was learning to write a timeline.

I found it easy because I had a great source of information.

My next step is to make a timeline all by myself.

My BORING Class

Reflection:

I was learning to write a narrative.

I found it easy because I have a good imagination.

My next step is to write a longer story.

Reflection:

I was learning to write an information report

I found it hard because I had no clue that this was even a city!

My next step is to learn more citys and towns of New Zealand.

Paragraphing Scaffold

My Reflection:

I was learning to write amazing paragraphs.

It was easy because I focused alot and learnt alot about paragraphs in year 4.

It was also quite fun because I got to learn alot about the blue duck.

Next time I want to focus alot on remembering to use these paragraphs in my writing.

Summarising a Text

Reflection:
I was learning to summarise information.

I found it easy to find the main ideas in the text because I know that small details aren't part of the main idea.

I found it easy to find the keywords in the text because I learnt about them in year 3 and 4.

I found it easy to use both of those to summarise the text because I understand what the keywords and main ideas are.

I think my next step is to learn to summarise more advanced texts.

Summarising Information

My Reflection

I have been learning to find and summarise information by choosing the most important information.

I found this interesting because I got to learn a lot more about Sir Edmund Hillary.

I found summarising the information easy because I've learnt it before and because I listened carefully.

My next step is to learn how to summarise more complicated texts.

Decimal Place Value

Reflection:
I was learning about decimal place value.
It was easy because learnt most of this in year 4 and I practise a lot at home.
I think my next step is to use operations with decimals.

Summarising A Text

Reflection:
I am learning to summarse a text.

It was easy to summarise the text but a little tricky to find the key words because it seemed that there were so many key words.

It was helpful to have a budy while doing this task.

My next learning step is to use what I learnt about summarising a text and do it with a harder text.

It was easy because the sheet helped me remember what words to write.
