I enjoyed creating a patterned leaf for our Class "Family Tree".  
We learned about our own family tree.

Predicting, Inferring and Exploring Vocabulary

I am learning to predict, make inferences and explore the vocabulary 



I found explaining the meanings in the text hard to do.  Next time I could talk about it in my group and share our ideas.

Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins, to add, total and give change.



This was easy for me.  Next time I'd like to add money with bigger numbers using notes and coins.

I am learning to identify, name and sort 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size, shape etc.)

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.



To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

To be successful I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during a storm.

Aarav, I like the way you have used some interesting nouns like lightning and frost. I can really hear that wind whistling.  Keep trying to add interesting words that describe or add meaning for the reader.

I am learning to count on from the biggest number.

“It was 5 plus 6, so I changed it to 6 plus 5.  Then I put 6 in my head and counted five more.”

Swimming

I have been learning to swim with my head in the water.  It was a bit easy for me because I keep practising.

My Family

My family is from India.  There are 9 people in my family.  We like to watch a movie with my family.  My family is very intelligent. Aarav March 2016

In writing I have been writing about my family.  I have been learning to make sure that all my capital letters and full stops are in the right places.

It was fun writing about my family and I think I did really well getting the capital letters and full stops right.
