Tens and ones

I am learning to play a bingo game which will help me identify a number of objects grouped into tens and ones.

"I know the red ones are the tens because there are 10 joined to each other.  I put 10 in my head and count on" Aarav said.

Phonics

We are learning to listen and record the sounds we can hear.  We are able to blend the sounds altogether.  We can use our phonics at Story writing and Reading time to help us.

"I can make the sounds when I robot the words and if I know the sounds I can make them when I need them." said Aarav

Pizza

We made pizza as a class, using ingredients that we had grown ourselves. 

These photos show the writing process. We started with the 'draft stage', where students try to use the skills they have been taught. After 'conferencing' with the teacher and 'editing', they produce the 'published work' for their audience to enjoy.

Paper bear

We learnt how to draw a teddy bear looking at the different shapes that make up the head and arms. We wrote about our bear and published it onto a paper bag.

Cats

I have been learning how to draw a cat.  I can mix colours together and I can also use charcoal to show shading.

Deep in the compost bin!

As part of our inquiry we have been looking at creatures that dwell in the darkness of our compost bins.

After we observed and handled these creatures, watched video clips and read books about them; we wrote these fabulous stories.

Part of the writing process is presenting our finished work in a way the captures our readers attention. We hope you enjoy viewing our quality work!

Aarav said," It was quite hard to look for the right pictures. I like my slater because it has pointy legs to climb a tree."

Subtracting Frogs!

The skittles game is a fun way to learn about subtraction problems to ten. You also have to try and write a number sentence that matches the number of skittles standing up and lying down.

"I like doing the minus numbers a lot." Aarav

Reading for meaning

I am learning to go back and read my sentence again to see if it makes sense.  I can also use my robot hands to help me work out a word.

"I am doing rhyming words so they can help you with reading and story writing." Aarav

Student lead conferences

Story writing

I am learning to write my story by myself.  I can use my word card and my sounds to help me write the words.

Aarav said " I can do finger spaces and full stops when I am doing my story writing."

Scooter day

We are learning to keep ourselves safe when we are on a scooter.

Self Portrait

I am learning to draw a self portrait.  I am able to put all the features in the correct place.

Swimming

I am learning to get into the pool safely.  I can move along the pool with my feel out straight.
